September 21st is the International Day of Peace
Did you know that on September 21st we will join the world in celebrating the International Day of Peace? This celebration, sometimes known simply as Peace Day, was created in 1981 by a United Nation’s resolution.
The purpose of the day is to encourage peace around the globe and to inspire all people to work together to create a culture of peace. This year’s International Day of Peace is focused on climate change. This Peace Day’s theme is dedicated to the reality that combating climate change is a way to promote peace.
In the spirit of this year’s Peace Day, today we’ll talk a little bit about some of the modern conveniences that come from having access to clean water, some ways that our water supply might be threatened and the importance of all of us working together to help protect the environment.
The Daily Impact of Modern Plumbing Technology
As you might guess, water is one of the natural resources that we hold most dear. It’s a prerequisite for your home’s plumbing system and enables you to enjoy your current quality of life.
Warm showers, clean clothes, adequate drinking water, indoor plumbing and water to cook and clean with are all made possible because of modern plumbing technology.
Without it, our lives would all look very different. And, without water, our plumbing technology would be meaningless.
The Correlation Between Climate Change and Water Droughts
One of the many troubling things about climate change is the impact that it could have on our water supply. Rising temperatures will mean more droughts and more natural water disasters.
This is a troubling issue and one that we should actively work to avoid. As much as possible, it’s important to conserve water and to help protect our water supplies.
By using high-efficiency appliances, collecting rainwater and being mindful of how your family uses water, you can work to save a little bit of water. It might not seem like much, but every little bit helps.
Working Together for World Peace
We are all dependent on our modern plumbing systems. However, we need access to clean water to continue enjoying these systems. Given the threats that climate change presents, it’s important that we all work together to help save water and to protect the planet.
Whether it’s through a system of rain barrels, planting a tree or arranging a carpool, every small step that you can take will help to make a difference. Now is the time for us to come together to protect the environment so that we can continue enjoying clean water, modern technology, and our beautiful planet.
As we prepare to celebrate International Day of Peace this September, we hope that you’ll spend some time thinking about the risks associated with climate change and any changes you can make to help combat it. If we all work together, we can have a big impact on our planet and help to ensure that we can all enjoy it for many generations to come.
